Master Bedroom Mood Board

When we bought our house we knew it was going to need quite a bit of updating. Literally the entire house was painted “beige”. Top to toe. It almost seems like they used the same paint on the ceiling too so it’s just continuous beige!

I honestly think they took that “it needs to be neutral to sell” waaaaaay too far.

Anyway, I love love paint colors (see the post on the best gray paint for North / South facing homes) and it’s been fun choosing a palette for the house.

Paint Colors

So far I’ve chose a dark gray for the kitchen and laundry room, light gray for my daughter’s room and bathroom and a blue-y gray for my son’s room. The spare room is a beautiful sage green and I have another little room upstairs that I painted a very serene taupe.

But I wanted to do something quite different in the master bedroom and I went for…………blush pink!!! I know!!! It’s not gray and it’s quite feminine. My husband has been amazing and just gone with it.

The inspiration was again, my obsession with blue and white (I’ve written a post on why every home should have blue and white, you can read it HERE if you click on the link) and I just love blue and white lamps.

My Mom had also given me a bag with a navy background with blush pink and cerise roses on it along with hints of sage green and cream. I thought it was beautiful and the color scheme was gorgeous.

Mood Board: Blush Pink, Navy, Sage Green, Cerise

Here is the mood board I put together, it will be a work in progress but the walls are pink! Yikes!

Blush Pink Navy Sage Green Cerise Color Scheme

// Paint – Sherwin Williams Intimate White. I chose this because it actually has yellow in it so it is a blush color more than pink and it is a warm color on the walls.

// Cushions from Etsy pulling together all the colors

// Linen Look King Headboard (from Walmart! $69.99!! ) I already have one in my guest bedroom and I love it.

// Embossed Bedskirt

// Vintage Linen

// Ikea Ektorp Sofa Chair – the comfiest chair.

// Fireplace – the master bedroom is ridiculously big and it is also over the garage so on those few Texas days when it is freezing this will be perfect. It will also break up a long wall.

// Seagrass Rug

// Antique Georgian Chest of Drawers – these are a bit of a dream purchase, if I can’t find anything similar I might just re-purpose some vintage side tables and paint them Navy.

// Blue + White Lamps

I love mixing Vintage and Antique with new and espcially reasonable finds.

I believe if you have confidence in your own style you can mix anything you like. Obviously I’m not a designer but I have a passion for putting looks together.

I hope you enjoyed having a sneak peek at my master bedroom design ideas.
