My Secret to Quitting Soda

Do you want to know my secret of giving up? I got cancer, yep the big C word! I knew that if I didn’t give up soda I would be risking my healing process by pumping myself full of chemicals on top of all my chemo.

So I quit cold turkey. Nope, that’s not entirely the truth I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and I bought myself a case of soda and drank the entire thing, like in 12 hours, I’m sure I was some sort of jittery idiot and then I QUIT.

However, I really do wish that someone had shown me THIS article about all the horrible and horrific things that are lurking in these innocent little cans, like BVO (aka Flame Retardant)!

What Will You Miss the Most About Not Drinking Soda?

But first of all, let’s talk about what is the thing that you will miss the most from not drinking soda? The “kick” of caffeine? The “treat” that you have just given yourself? The “downtime” privilege of sitting and taking a break?

One of the hardest parts of kicking a habit is changing the reward system in your brain. But I have found that “switching” works for me: swapping out one for the other (from unhealthy to healthy) I was able to still indulge the “habit”. And I found I adored fizzy water and it somehow satisfied that “kick” I needed.

But it doesn’t need to be boring, at all! I’ve rounded up some game-changing substitutes. Yes, some of the recipes do have sugar in them, but at this point, I think it’s more important to eliminate the chemicals rather than the sugar aspect. You can also control the amount of sugar you put in each recipe.

The beautiful, natural ingredients are sure to inspire you and once you start drinking chemical-free drinks you will find you will regain your taste buds and really start to enjoy “tasting” things again.
