Why you need the half an hour project in your life if you want to be calmer, healthier and more productive
The Goal of the Half An Hour Project
I realized as I began another school year that I was only 24 hours into the process and already I was feeling out of control.
I was tiring myself out and I literally was 1 day in.
The main problem was that I was thinking that everything was going to take so long and how was I going to fit it all into one day.
But then I thought about how much time I spend scrolling through my stupid phone and I landed on 30 minutes.
The Half An Hour Project
30 minutes or half an hour is such a small amount of time but if we can block it off (read the article on 10 Best Organization Techniques) we can accomplish so much.
And you can divide it up too.
It does not have to be one task for a full 30 minutes.
Take a few minutes to do a couple of things that really make sense to you and that you feel
What to accomplish with the Half An Hour Project
These are the things that I want to accomplish with my Half An Hour that I am going to allocate to myself (most probably twice a day):
- Exercise 25 mins
- Meditate 5 mins
- Read 30 mins
I feel like if I can do that every day for 30 days (which apparently is the time it takes to create a new habit) then I should feel like I am accomplishing more.
I will probably feel fitter and therefore healthier, my mental state won’t be as rushed if I give myself a few minutes to get centered and I love reading and will be able to schedule more time to read more of what I love!
The Half An Hour Project Tracker
How hard is it to stick to things?
It’s difficult to commit when you are not sure what you are doing and where you are going with a project.
Here is a FREE printable project tracker for you to download and you can fill it out however you would like to but the most important thing is that this will hold you accountable to your goals.
How to use the tracker:
There are 12 dots representing 5 minutes of an hour. Strikethrough each dot for every 5 minutes of your activity.
Write a little note to yourself to remind yourself what you did for that day.
The idea is that you can start at any time, there is NO PERFECT TIME to start, just get going on Day 1. It can be at the beginning of the month or at the end of the month.
